A bottle of palm oil looks simple enough on a shelf, but getting it there involves a fairly long journey — one that starts long before harvest and doesn’t end until it reaches a customer’s kitchen or factory floor. Here’s what that journey looks like on our plantation in Nsit Ibom.
Harvest Day on the Plantation
Our palm stands are checked regularly so fruit bunches are cut at exactly the right stage of ripeness — too early and the oil yield suffers, too late and quality drops. Our field teams harvest by hand, a method that’s slower than mechanised alternatives but far gentler on the fruit and the surrounding plantation.
From Fruit Bunch to Fresh Palm Oil
Once harvested, fruit bunches move quickly to our processing facility — timing matters, since fresh fruit begins losing quality within hours. The bunches are sterilised, the fruit is separated and pressed, and the oil is clarified before storage. The same process, on the kernel side, gives us our crude palm kernel oil and the palm kernel cake by-product.
Quality Checks Before It Leaves the Farm
Before any batch leaves Cefaan Farms, it’s checked against our internal quality standards for colour, clarity, and acidity. This is the step that separates export-grade oil from the rest, and it’s one we don’t skip regardless of order size.
Getting It to Your Table
From there, our products move out to food manufacturers, cosmetics producers, and agro-processors across Nigeria and beyond. It’s a chain we take seriously at every link — because sustainable farming only matters if it’s followed by responsible processing and honest delivery.
